HIGHLIGHTS:

A tailor-made trip designed to discover some of the natural wonders we have in The Pyrenees.  Local life, traditions, gastronomy, magic corners, village´s architecture… It is a program outside the popular routes, where participants have a great chance to stimulate their senses, and rest in high quality Rural Hotels.

We will move from east to west as we go through different regions in this part of Spain. (Catalonia & Aragon) Also, we will cross naturally with our hikes the border between Spain and France at different locations breaking the idea of a real political border.

Day 1: Arrival pick up; Lleida – High Speed train station (AVE), or Lourdes

ITINERARY

Day 1:               

Welcome to the Northern Spain Territory.  Pick up arrangements from Lourdes´airport, or Lleida-Pyreneu train station, or Barcelona airport in order to start the trip.  Meet your mountain & escort guide, and transfer to Aran Valley in Catalonia. Visit to Romanesque churches S.XIII of Salardú or/and Tredós and feel the atmosphere of the Pyrenees.

  • Night & dinner in Val d´Aran:  Hotel Mauberme ***, Hotel Yoy Tredós ****, Parador Arties ****

 

Day 2:              

After having breakfast at the Hotel, we get ready for a circular hike in the area.  On the route we will enjoy mountain lakes and good views of the biggest sky resort in the Pyrenees; Baqueira Beret.  We can make it shorter depending on weather conditions or any motivation aspect.  Once we finish, we go back to last night´s hotel.

  • Hiking route: Orri – Estanhs deth Rosari Baciver –  Collada del Plans – Orri                                               20 km / +964 m. -964 m.

 

Day 3:               

We start having and energetic breakfast, stretching a little bit and getting ready for a beautiful day in the mountains.  After a 15 min. transfer along a forest track we start our hike at the end of the valley where Unhola river grows.  From this point we have a constant uphill going through the mountain lake of Montollu and the peak; Tuc der Ome (2.703 m.).  We will continue our route by the border with France seeing old mines already abandoned until arriving to Noguera Pallaresa river.  At this point we can rest at Montagerri Refuge, or go to Beret sky Resort; the final step for today´s route.  To say goodbye to Val d´Aran, we will have a farewell dinner at a local & traditional restaurant in Tredos runned by Joan & Manola.  Maybe we can collect from their farm some eggs for dinner…

  • Hiking route: Cabana des Calhaus – Beret sky Resort 22 km / +988 m. -1.053 m.

 

Day 4:               

This morning we pack our luggage and get a short transfer to the hiking starting point.  We are going to cross form one valley in Catalonia to another in Aragon.  Depending on participants´ skills and the weather conditions, we have different routes options.  We will get walking to our little hotel isolated and protected by the highest summits of the Pyrenees; Aneto´s range.

  • Hiking route: Artiga de Lin – Ibon de Toro – Hospital de Benasque          14 km / +752 m. -482 m.

 

Day 5:               

Let´s enjoy the area.  Today we have a circular trek discovering two amazing narrow valleys and a great loneliness feeling, or another option could be going as close as possible to the summit of Pico Sacroux (2.671 m.) in France.  At the end of the day, back to the same hotel we were at last night.  Time to rest and maybe use the Spa they have in the Hotel.

  • Night & dinner in Benasque:  Hospital de Benasque ***
  • Hiking route: A) – Vall de Remuñe – Ibon y vall de Literola – Hotel   17 km / +1.083m. – 1.083 m                                                                                      B) Hotel – Ibon de Corgutes – Puerto de la Glera – Sacroux – Hotel                                                  8.5 km / +864 m. – 864 m.

 

Day 6:               

After breakfast, we have a transfer to Parador of Bielsa (110 km  – 2h.)  We go to Ordesa National Park area.  The next 2 nights will be in a charming Hotel – Parador in the mountains, having a great feeling of nature and greatness.  Today we can make a circular hike stopping half-way on the road, discovering one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Pyrenees (Basa de la Mora), or have a different hike option crossing the border with France as smugglers and WWII fugitives used to do, or maybe just rest and discover some of the villages close to Ainsa in the Sobrarbe region.

  • Night & dinner in Valle de Pineta: Parador de Bielsa ***
  • Hiking routes: A) Plan – Basa de la Mora – Plan 13 km / +819 m. – 819 m.                                                          B) Tunel Bielsa – Puerto Viejo – Tunel  13 km / +1425 m. – 1275 m.

 

Day 7:               

It is our last day in the mountains and we have a great project ahead of us.  We are going to hike up to the base of “Monte Perdido” north face.  Looks like impossible, but yes, there is a trail that takes you up there.  The views of the whole valley and our little Hotel – Parador down below are amazing.  After getting back to the Parador for a comforting shower, we have a trip farewell dinner in a very special restaurant in Pineta valley.  It is a nice moment to share experiences and feelings.

  • Night & dinner in Valle de Pineta: Parador de Bielsa *** – Kanguro Truchero
  • Hiking route: Parador – Marboré frozen lake – Parador 15 km / +1346 m. – 1346 m.

 

Day 8:                         

After packing and having breakfast, we get prepared for a transfer towards airport or train station drop off.

On the way, we can make a stop to visit a winery in Somontano region, having a tasting experience, and a meal seeing the range of the Pyrenees at our back.

We hope you had a great time among us, as well as enjoyed the magic corners we have been through.

.           Every morning we will provide participants with some food & water to carry in their backpacks with the waterproof or warm clothes they may need during the day´ s route.
