We start in the Amazon, but we do not stop there. When we have blended with the rivers, mangroves, and lush green jungle, staying in the most beautiful and comfortable jungle lodge, the trip has just begun; then we go to the wildlife reserve of the North Pantanal, where we embark on a boat at the rivers and flooded areas of the ecosystem to go out in search of the elusive jaguar. On our way, we’ll encounter many other animal species, and adventures will be inevery corner. But this does not end here, because we will later fly to the South Pantanal to stay a couple of nights more in an excellent ecological refuge that makes us enjoy in direct contact with wildlife through night excursions, canoe trips and walks.

Cuiabá

The capital of Mato Grosso, Cuiabá is the gateway to the state’s main attractions: the waterfalls and caves of the Chapada dos Guimarães, and the exuberance of North Pantanal. It isnoteworthy that the city is rich in history and cultural tours get better by the time the sun starts to drop because it is one of the hottest climates in the country. Some museums, churches, cultural houses open only in the afternoon. It is when the sun goes down that life here becomesbustling, bohemian, and cheerful. And at this time the heat, already milder, is very welcome because it favors relaxing walks and rejoices conversations.

South Amazon Lodge

The southern part of the Brazilian Amazon is one of the richest destinations in the Amazon to observe birds, mammals, butterflies, and orchids – due to the exceptional number of species. The Cristalino Ecolodge is set within the first RPPN (Private National Heritage Reserve) in northern Mato Grosso, which enables visitors to immerse themselves in the wealth of flora and fauna of the region. It is situated beside the clean, calm waters of the majestic River Cristalino, which provides the only access to the hotel. The property contains several nature trails, where one can be sure to sight some of the special creatures that inhabit the Amazon region. It is a region that is recognized as one of the world’s most important, in terms of biodiversity.

North Pantanal

The Pantanal is the world’s largest continental wetland. There are approximately 210,000 km2divided into north and south over territories of Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil. Most of this flat land lies in Brazil. The North Pantanal is a privileged region, concentrating all types of landscape that make up its ecosystem. The natural beauty and the rich biodiversity of this part of thePantanal form a differentiated set by the uniqueness of its scenery formed by hills, savannas, rivers, corixos, and huge flooded areas, some temporary and others permanent.

South Pantanal

For those who like that farm environment, with food cooked on the wood stove, and a lot ofnature, South Pantanal is the ideal place! Due to its geological profile that provides a water flow, the Pantanal has two distinct seasons annually: the dry season and the full season. It is considered one of the richest places in biodiversity in the world. This ecosystem has the highestdensity of wildlife in the Americas, being compared to the savannas of Africa. A scenarioconsidered a real open sky zoo. Tours, lodging, and meals showcase the best of Pantanal natureand culture delighting all tastes!

Campo Grande

Planned and forested without losing its interior city style, Campo Grande, capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, is a mix of cultures. It is the gateway to the Pantanal. From the indigenous tribes of the region come the beautiful crafts, with lots of ceramic and wood pieces, besides the colorfultapestries. From the neighboring country, Paraguay, the influence is gastronomic presenting us the chipa – a kind of compact cheese bread – and the Paraguayan soup, which is actually a pie.To drink, a lot of tereré, a kind of iced mate tea. Also, to enhance regional cooking there are Japanese dishes, heritage of the immigrants who came from across the world in the early 20thcentury.

What to bring?

Closed and comfortable footwear for walks in the city. Sunscreen and hat all through the year.

Throughout the journey, our travelers will use light clothes.

A bottle to drink water, avoiding the use of disposable containers. They will be able to refill in airports and hotels during the trip.

Best travel period?

You can travel anytime during the year.

We recommend you avoid Brazilian Holidays (mid-Dec to end-Feb and Jul), as the destination gets really empty, and the “business” of the destination is part of the experience.

Between August to October, it is the dry season, and everyone must drink lots of water to prevent the unpleasant effects of dehydration. April to June are probably the best months of the year to travel to Brasilia because the city is greener.

Banks and money exchange:

The exchange and/or cash withdrawal at ATMs is preferably done at airports for security and because most of these Experiences take place in locations with little banking structure.
